Confirm that it is deviation that you want?
This is the web site. Not sure of the lasted nightly build.

    Deviation - Home

It is complex FW. You need to be a master Smart radio programmer.

    Many thanks.
I already have this firmware installed but my son is buying the same tx Walkera 12S and wants the Deviation firmware as well because it can bind to all and a number of varying rxs.
I have only had the tx and rx for a week.
I am 70 and had to read the manual many times over to " get it"!.
90% of it I have mastered and have now configured it to six model boats.
I do not think the fw is that bad to understand and at least it is written in English that makes sense!!
The manufacturers English can be difficult to understand.
I am no master programmer but you made my day because well....yeah.....I think I have cracked it.
A lot of it is not needed for model boats.
I do not need Exponential servo travel, am quite deaf so will not hear alarms etc.
I just need max channels, models assigment and servo travel adjustment.
    Many thanks for your reply.

Cool, well done. It is very hard to get started. It starts to get super complex when you need to program a Collective Pitch flybarless helicopter. :)

Walkera Devo 12Ss are now super rare, your son is lucky to get one. I just picked up a second hand one to make my fourth they are a great radio.

Note that it will only bind with Walkera and JR compatible Rxs from the FW only.

You need to install a hardware 4 in 1 module to support FrSky, Futaba, FlySky, etc Receivers.

Here is a pic of a 12S that I installed the 4 in 1 module in. This was my 3rd conversion so my best work. Even used Letraset for the A1 and B3 labels. All plug and Play I installed Pins for all the solder pads and created cables with sockets.

That is very neat work. Nice soldering with pins and plugs.
It looks like Walkera have made a provision for this as everything just fits?
I mean there appear to be soldering pads to mod it?
Where do you get the 4 in 1 modules from?
I seem to remember having read that the Tx can be converted for other recievers if this hardware is installed.
I notice you have removed an SMD Capacitor.
How did you know you had to do this?
Are the pins you put in " though" soldered?
Thank goodness I will not have to be dealing with helicopters flybarless or not.
The mere thought of them is just too complex for me. Also hellish expensive!!
I have been an aeromodeller most of my life but with free flight vintage petrol engines.
I have flown RC four channels fixed wing and my last was a 1/3 scale Turbulent with Laser 150 four stroke. Then the wife divorced me!!!
So it' s just me and boats!!
The 12S sounds to be one really good radio.
It must have got too expensive to produce.
    My son's arrived today.
    It is MINT!
    I am jealous.
I don't think it has been used.
The rx is still in its packing bag.
There is not a finger print on it.
    Drool.
Mind you, mine is near on that.
    I am super happy.

    Didn't remove a SMD Cap
The strait up pins on the main board are with through holes.
The B3 and A1 surface pins are SM pins.
The 90 Degree pins on the 4 in 1 module are with through holes.

You remove the Walkera module board with TX chip and replace it with the 4 in 1 module board with the 4 TX chips.

Started flying in the early 80s. I'm teaching my grandchildren how to fly now.

I fly Drones, Helicopters, Fixed Wing Prop and Jets. Electric, Nitro and Gas engines and JetA1 turbines. 9 cylinder rotary, is my biggest Gas and Dual 14Kg Turbine is my Biggest Jet.

My Wife continually threatens to divorce me. It's come very close a couple of times.

Forgot to add. I'm looking to do a Vibrator mod using FrSky vibrators. Evidently the FW supports it, but the 12S doesn't have the hardware.

Hi Brian and thanks for the heads up on the four in one mod.
Having studied your photo again and again It is within my skills to do this.
Its a matter of what I have to do to reprogramme it afterwards.
After a quick five minutes of looking at my son's newly arrived 12S, yes I agree....the Devention firmware is clearer and logically easier to understand than Deviation.
The menus seem to " get you there" quicker?
I would only know by comparing the two.
We were lucky enough to have two beautiful 12s 's both with differing firmware.
I am tempted to put mine back to " Devention" fw and fit the four in one.
I believe the devention fw is still installed but I do not know how to reptogramme or " flash " the original fw to it.
I am getting tech now with this "flash" word as I have read about it and want to be clever !!!
I am going to end up a Geek if I am not already aware I AM one!!!
Yep, with your squadron of jets hellis and drones that is a certainty for a quick divorce!!..very few women for some reason do not like aircraft unless they are innit and going on holiday!
Avoid divorce by taking her on holiday!

You are certainly an experienced RCer!.
If I do the mod, may I ask you if I run into problems?
    Pete.
    Oz.

You need to have the Deviation FW installed to use the 4 in 1.
I have created a new Library FW module for Deviation that allows a lot more symbology to support different model types.
Here as some pics of the additional status buttons in provides. And some Model pictures I crafted.

Happy to help. Just ask in this thread.

    Wow.
    A big thank you.
    You clearly know about programming.
    Burning question.
Is it possible for you to engineer in your adapted firmware, icons for boats?
    All I need is two...
    1 A simple sailing yacht
    2 A motorised boat like a Tug.
    This would be excellent news.
Okay I will stick with deviation fw.
I like the Redcon Rxs as they are cheap, work well with my Tx and the whole thing lights up orange which is a give away as to its status.
    Pete
