Can you update your location so we know where you are flying?

I can tell you what most likely went wrong.

The Aibao will fly even if you have not done, or you do not execute correctly, the Calibration process.

The only time this Magnetic Compass calibration is critical is in a Return To Home.

In normal flight the calibration can be out of alignment and it will still allow the tail to hold. And it will still fly quite well.

But to be able to return to the GPS (Stored in the model at the time you arm the motors) locked coordinates in a RTH it must have a correctly aligned compass bearing.

The compass is used to find its way home by the Compass Heading Vector. If will fly this bearing vector until it reaches the RTH coordinates stored in the model. If the Vector is not aligned correctly. i.e. not calibrated correctly it will fly in the wrong direction.

Causes of all flyaways that happen when RTH is initiated.

    • Incorrectly calibrated Compass.
    • Bad GPS Home position. Arming the motors before the GPS has locked enough satellites and has gotten an accurate home location position to store.
    • Flying Close to magnetic anomaly. Power lines large steel structures etc.

99% IMHO of flyaways is operator error and incorrect operational procedure.

    Cheers Brian

Maybe we should suggest to Walkera that the quad will not fly unless compass and GPS are calibrated properly. This should avoid many flyaway incidents. Maybe they should enable this at least for first 10 flights, so new owner can really adapt to these pre-flight checklists.

I'm sorry to know this, does this flyaway happened on your first flight with it?

That would help but then we would get the I cant bind to my Quad and ARM motors problems.

Maybe we should create a Word Document that is a Walkera Forums badged checklist that members can download?

That is also helpful unless they come to this forum after the flyaway, just like above, so there is nothing that they can do anymore except try to search for the lost quad.
