so....thought it would be worth doing a sort of blog

i'm a middle aged family man in a civil service role in the UK

i'm a tamiya man really and have a small array

at work i do a few bits with drones and thought i'd dip my toe in!

so having tight purse strings I purchased a 2nd hand 150

initial flights went well. i've never flown RC helos or planes but i have flown a few real aircraft so the basics i get.

first flight out i had Tx issues and the 150 flew into the sky where i cut it down by turning off the Tx where it hit the ground hard...

so some fixing of the 150 and a new Tx and it was up and running again

been learning quickly but am not exactly getting there as quick as i would like

i'm finding the small size of the 150 makes it hard to tell the orientation at distance

ive managed to film a few nice vids with my 808mate mini spy cam attached to the top using velcro

today while learning a few more tricks in horizon mode i flipped it but remained inverted and could not tell

the resulting impact has meant a total strip down has been necessary

i have most of the parts but am just awaiting some time to unsolder all the motors

thats about it for now..... i'll update after the rebuild

Nice little collection you have there mate. Used to have a sweet Traxxas Revo back in the day that went like a rocket.

I found changing the front props to white really helped with orientation which I see you have also done. That being said though I don't fly mine really high or let it get to far away from me.

Anyway hope the rebuild go wells.

well its all back together - god the soldering of the motor to the ESC was hard

even though the ESC board has 3 x holes, the motor is surface soldered and the wires are sooooo short

my only issue now is my LH red ring has a bad connection and flickers but this is not an issue... i'll look at it another time.

currently I have left the video Tx board out as its destroyed and i'm not flying FPV ..... YET!

although ... i paid attention to the wiring and what went where but not about which motor was CCW and what was CW

    :*(

is the only difference the threaded spline for the prop?

tad confused as the parts list only shows 1 motor type

You just swap 2 wires on the esc to change motor direction. The threads on the motors will define if its CW or CCW. If you get it wrong the correct props for that corner will not screw on.

all the props spin correctly and it flies....

the props didn't screw on easily (hence why i think they are wrong)

do the motors have CW and CCW markings??

ok so testing the props screwing on lightly i found the 2 rear motors were travelling in the correct rotation (wired correctly) but the correct blade would only fit on the wrong motor.

saw a thread on the 210 area about swapping shafts so removed the c-clips and swapped the shafts and all is well and good and the blades slip on nicely

when storm doris has properly passed and the wind has dropped, i'll try a bit more flying again ;)

i know skyzone FPVs are the dogs BUT i really can't find the cash so when my replacement vid Tx board arrives i may buy a cheapo to play.

i'm assuming its ok to fly without the Tx board fitted??
